What Is Psychoenergetic Work? A Somatic and Energy-Based Approach to Emotional Healing

Psychoenergetic Work combining somatic therapy and energy healing

What Is Psychoenergetic Work?

Psychoenergetic Work® is an integrative approach that combines psychological awareness, somatic regulation and subtle energy principles to support deep emotional healing and embodied transformation. Rather than focusing only on thoughts or symptoms, this method works with the whole system, mind, body and energy, recognising that emotional patterns are stored not only cognitively but physiologically.

This approach is grounded, trauma-informed and relational.

Why Insight Alone Is Often Not Enough

Many people understand their patterns. They know their triggers. They have insight into their past. Yet their body continues to react in the same way. This is because lasting change requires nervous system regulation, emotional processing, embodied integration and not only cognitive understanding.

As regulation strengthens, reactive patterns reduce. Clients move from survival responses to intentional and authentic decisions.

What are the Origin of Psychoenergetic Work®?

Roberto Assagioli psychodynamic

The day the term Psychoenergetic Work came to me, I felt immediately struck by its depth and resonance. When I began researching it, I discovered that the concept already existed and had been explored by one of my long-standing inspirations, Roberto Assagioli, founder of Psychosynthesis.

The word psychoenergetic refers to the dynamic relationship between the conscious and unconscious aspects of the psyche, including what Assagioli described as the higher Self or soul intelligence. It recognises that human experience is not only psychological but also energetic, shaped by our level of awareness, our life force (Prana), and the subtle forces that influence how we perceive, relate and act.

Assagioli envisioned a “science of the Self”, an integrative understanding of human energies and their interaction. His work emphasised how inner forces can be contacted, understood and directed consciously, allowing individuals to live in greater coherence, authenticity and constructive alignment.

Psychoenergetic Work® builds on this perspective, integrating psychological insight with embodied awareness and subtle energy principles to support meaningful and sustainable transformation.

What Makes Psychoenergetic Work® Different?

Psychoenergetic Work® is not traditional talk therapy alone, purely spiritual energy work, or symptom-focused coaching. It is an integrative, trauma-informed approach that combines somatic counselling, parts work, breath and nervous system regulation, emotional processing and subtle energy awareness within a structured therapeutic framework. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, it works with the interconnected layers of mind, body and energy to support deep and sustainable change.

This approach can support anxiety, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, relational patterns, identity confusion, trauma integration, fatigue, burnout and feelings of disconnection from self. It is particularly helpful for those who have already done personal development or mainstream therapy but are seeking deeper embodied integration.

I meet you where you are and co-create the journey together. I offer my humanity, professional knowledge and guidance within a safe, ethical container. Our work is rooted in curiosity, embodied presence and learning to stay with uncomfortable emotions rather than avoiding them. My style is authentic, dynamic and creative, integrating influences from Jungian psychology, somatic practices, mindfulness, counselling skills, hypnotherapy, parts work (IFS), bioenergetics and Egyptian–Essene traditions.

Is Psychoenergetic Work® for Everyone?

Psychoenergetic Work® is suited to individuals who are open to holistic exploration and ready to engage actively in their growth. It often supports those experiencing emotional distress, recurring relational patterns or a sense of disconnection from themselves. This approach integrates psychological awareness, somatic regulation and energy principles within a grounded, trauma-informed framework. Sessions are relational and experiential, working with both insight and the body’s responses to restore balance and support lasting change. The length of the process varies according to your goals and depth of work. It is a complementary approach and does not replace medical or psychiatric care. The journey begins with an initial consultation to explore alignment and clarify your focus.

If this resonates with your experience, I offer trauma-informed somatic counselling in Brighton and online, supporting people to move from reactive relational patterns to embodied, authentic connection. You’re welcome to book a free discovery call to explore working together.
